We Need More Bridges

>> Wednesday, 23 November 2011

Isabel II bridge, also known as Triana bridge, Seville, June 2011.
They don't need to be projected by renowned French engineers of the nineteenth century like this one in Seville, but merely bridges to the usual things, between us and the others.

We don't need, in any case, more people who want everyone not like them to have less rights than them. I came across one of these ones today. Well, to these ones, the long-faced, gray-mooded people who should be clamoring for a bridge, I dedicate my photo of the bridge of Triana.

Well put. We certainly do need bridges of understanding between various communities and faiths.

what a nice way of putting that. We could use a lot more bridges in the world

They need to be bridges too. As an allegory I'll tell you about the lifting bridge we have to cross to get to town. The industrial action (strikes) all over the UK today meant the bridge was left UP most of the day so no-one could get to town that way. Many people stayed home because it takes longer to go the other way around.

I also struggle with people who have such a strong sense of "others" that they cannot see that by denying those people rights, you are denying everybody rights. I don't get that idea of generalising about people or discriminating against them just because they are not "us".
